Renew a Temporary Occupation License (TOL)

The process of renewing a temporary occupation license falls under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey.

A Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL) to occupy public land is issued by the Land Board according to any terms and conditions imposed, and is valid for a maximum length of 3 years.

There are no automatic rights of renewal of such licences. The Land Board retains the power to grant new TOLs, and has delegated the power to renew TOLs to the Commissioner of Lands. TOLs can only be granted and renewed for specific locations e.g. in one of Honiara’s defined Informal Settlement (IS) areas.
