About the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development
The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) is the Government authority responsible for education in the Solomon Islands.
Education in the Solomon Islands is a shared responsibility between Government, the Solomon Island Education Board, Provinces, Education Authorities, families and communities.
The Minister of Education is responsible for the overall governance of the MEHRD and is headed by the Permanent Secretary.

Our Mission is to deliver quality education for the people of the Solomon Islands in order for them to develop as individuals and possess the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to earn a living and to live in harmony with others and their environment.
Our Services
Ministry services include:
Corporate Services
To design, develop and manage policies, procedures, and systems relating to Financial Management and Procurement, Human Resources, Office Management, Information Systems and Statistics.
Education Services
To coordinate and support the management and administration of educational services delivered through the provincial education offices.
Teaching and Learning
To coordinate and support the management and administration of educational services delivered through the provincial education offices.
Strategic Support Unit
To enable the MEHRD’s senior management team to focus on improving teaching and learning by consistently collating or providing accurate, quality and timely information, advice and support.
To achieve its mission, the Ministry delivers services through its eighteen (18) Divisions.
