The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) is one of the government ministries under the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA). Its key functions include Commerce, Industry, Labour, Immigration, Consumer Affairs and Price Control, Foreign Investment, trade development and business registration all deliver services that are essential for the economic development and national security of Solomon Islands.

The MCILI is no doubt a key government ministry. The services it seeks to provide are vital to the growth of our economy, for increasing indigenous participation in commerce and business, for encouraging foreign investment, for protecting our borders, for protecting consumer affairs, for ensuring fair trade and competition, and for ensuring market access for Solomon Islands products
Our Services
Ministry Services include:
- Foreign investment online application
- Foreign Investment Division provides aftercare services to foreign investors
- Registration of businesses, companies, secure transactions, and charitable trusts can be done at the Company Haus and online
- Attend to complaints relating to increase in prices of controlled goods in shops
- Secure export markets for products from Solomon Islands
- Deal with trade disputes
- Decide and approve SME applications for the Subvention Grant
- Facilitate applications for the SME Guarantee Scheme
- Deal with grievances such as unfair dismissal, redundancy and minor disputes
- Deal with complaints on accidents and occupational diseases
Essential Services
- Issuance of passports to Solomon Islanders
- Issuance of long term visas to foreigners
- Airport and seaport clearances
- Issue work permits to foreign workers
- Apprentice program – sponsor SINU students to undertake skills development programs
