About SIG ICT Services
SIG ICT Services was mandated in 2011 by a cabinet decision to be the central body responsible for whole-of-government ICT support services. These services include the coordination, delivery and support of ICT services for the Solomon Islands Government.
The core purpose of SIG ICT Services is to remove the ICT burden and make ICT to become an enabling tool that allows Ministries to focus on delivering their corporate business objectives.
Our Services
Strategic Advice and Innovation
The Strategic Advice and Innovation is the umbrella component of SIG ICT Services Management. It involves understanding the overall goal(s) of the business and developing consistent strategy for the use of ICT within the business ensuring that ICT is a business enabler. Innovation and developing innovative initiatives play an important role within this component as a way to increase efficiencies and develop policies to remove barriers. This level of support is directly managed and under the purview of the Director of SIG ICT Services and requires consistent communication with executive and senior members of all Government agencies.
Business Services Coordination (Project)
The Business Services Coordination of SIG ICT Services Management directly relates to the development of services and systems that enables service delivery. The core function of this component is to manage the delivery of ICT projects across Government and to identify any cross-functional relationship(s) and to remove duplication and waste of resources. This component is directly managed and oversighted by the Deputy Directors of SIG ICT Services.
Operational Support
The operational support of SIG ICT Services Management relates to the consistent and effective delivery of core ICT services across Government with a services catalogue developed. One of the major issues facing SIG ICT Services is the move away from Desktop Support (i.e. break/fix) to delivering other Core Business Services. Many of the core functions of ICT are standard across all ICT Management, however new services will be added due to changes in policies, Strategic Advice and Innovative components, and also due to transition of projects through the Business Service Coordination Component.
Essential Services
SIG ICT Services provides essential support for Public Services and Government Service Delivery. It does not deal with the general public.
