The Government through the Price Control Division of the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) is activating measures to control prices of goods to prevent illegal hikes in prices in view of the current COVID-19 situation.
The Price Control Division has begun the process last week and is finalizing a new schedule pending legal clearance from the Attorney General’s Office for execution.
‘Price fixing’ is necessary to avoid businesses taking advantage of the current situation to increase the price of goods and services in the country as demand for goods and services are likely to soar.
