Visitor arrivals in 2025 reaches 27,329 

• Total visitor arrivals to Solomon Islands has rebounded since 2022, immediately after the Covid-19 pandemic era, and has progressively increased, up to 2025 with 27,329 visitors. 

• Compared to 25,130 visitors in 2024, visitor arrivals in 2025 showed an increase of 9.9% or an additional 2,199 visitors during the year.

• Returning residents consisted of slightly over half (51.8%) of the total arrivals in 2025. This was followed by visitors, comprising 47.8% of all arrivals, and intending residents, accounting for less than 1% of all arrivals.

• Arrivals by category showed that returning residents and visitors make up the largest proportion of all arrivals, increasing from 98.7% in 2017 to 99.6% in 2025. 

• Intending residents have declined in proportion from 1.3% of all arrivals in 2017 to 0.4% in 2025.

Visitors by Country of Residence  

• In 2025, visitors from Australia comprise the largest group (30.3%) to the Solomon Islands, recording a figure of 8,269. This revealed a 3.3% increase in Australian visitors compared to the 2024 figure of 8,004. 
• Visitors from China recorded the next largest (12.9%) group of visitors, followed by other Asian Countries (8.6%), Fiji (7.8%), the United States of America (7.5%), Papua New Guinea (7.0%), New Zealand (6.6%), Other Pacific Countries (5.6%), Other European Countries (4.6%), and Vanuatu (3.8%). 

Visitors by Purpose of Visit  

• The most common reason for visiting Solomon Islands in 2025 was for holiday and vacation, accounting for 31.8% or 8,679 visitors that reported this purpose for visiting the country. This was followed by visitors arriving for: business and conference, comprising of 27.3% or 7,471 visitors; Other reasons with 25.6% or 7,008 visitors; Visiting friends and relatives with 13.1%  or 3,586 visitors; and transit and stopover consisting of 2.1% or 585 visitors. 

 Tourist

• A total of 9,264 tourists travelled to Solomon Islands in 2025 and spent an average of 12 days by frequency of visit in the country.
• The top 10 countries of residence for tourists visiting Solomon Islands in 2025 were Australian residents, who recorded the highest proportion (2,715 or 29.3%) of tourists. This was followed by China (1,394 or 15.0%), United States of America (1,311 or 14.2%), Other European Countries (881 or 9.5%), Other Asian Countries (710 or 7.7%), Papua New Guinea (420 or 4.5%), New Zealand (367 or 4.0%), Fiji (308 or 3.3%), United Kingdom (262 or 2.8%), and Vanuatu (219 or 2.4%).

Visitors by Age Group 

• Visitor arrivals by broad age group showed that the majority of visitors were in the age range of 25 to 44 years in 2025. This accounted for 38.8% of arrivals, or 10,600 visitors. This was followed by the age group 45-64 years with 10,251 (37.5%) of visitors. 

• The youngest age group (less than 25 years) made up 8.1% or 2,224 visitors, while the elderly age group 65 years and over recorded 2,567 visitors, representing 9.4% of visitor arrivals.
• Distribution of visitors by gender showed more male visitors visiting Solomon Islands than female visitors. Male visitors recorded 18,592 visitors, which showed more than half (68.0%) of the total visitor arrivals, compared to females with 8,737 visitors, representing 32.0% of total visitor arrivals. 

Visitors by Occupation  

• Visitors who were engaged in professional and technical occupations showed the highest percentage of occupations (32.6%) in 2025. This was followed by: visitors who worked in administration and managerial (17.6%) positions; production and related work (15.2%); no work (11.1%); student (5.8%); other occupations (5.3%); sales work (4.2%); service work (2.8%); agriculture, forestry and fisheries (2.0%); clerical and related work (1.8%), and not stated (1.6%).
