Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 21-year-old male person for damaging an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), which is owned by the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited at Chinatown recently.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Jimson Robo says that it will be alleged in court that around 1 am in the morning the suspect and his spouse ended up at Chinatown arguing.
PPC Robo says the suspect who was under the influence of liquor at that time picked up stones on the ground in front of the ATM machine and shot at the front screen of the machine several times, as a result the front screen of the machine broke into pieces.
Superintendent Robo says the damage of the ATM machine cost around SBD 23,000.00. Current investigation into the matter is continuing and appeal to those who may have any information to assist police.
“I appeal to the general public to respect public properties for our conveniences,” says PPC Robo.
The suspect was bailed to attend the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court for his plea on 22 November 2021.
