Road Construction Works at SIPA Junction
This is to inform the public that road construction works at the unpaved seaside section of the SIPA Junction will commence on 8 June 2026 and are expected to be completed within two (2) weeks, subject to weather conditions.
The scope of works will include pavement concreting and associated road improvement works aimed at enhancing road safety, durability, and traffic efficiency along this important section of the road network.
To facilitate the safe and efficient implementation of these works, the public is advised of the following temporary traffic arrangements:
- Road Closure and Eastbound Traffic
The seaside section of the road from the Yacht Club Road Junction to the Hot Bread Roundabout will be closed to general traffic. The vehicles travelling from the Tandai Highway/White River area towards the town centre will use the left lane on the landside section beginning at the Yacht Club Road Junction and will merge back to the seaside lane at the Hot Bread Roundabout.
- Westbound Traffic
Westbound vehicles travelling from the town centre towards Tandai Highway/White River will use the left lane on the landside section from the Hot Bread Roundabout to the Yacht Club Road Junction before proceeding along the two-lane landside section.
- Access to SIPA Honiara Port
Trucks and other vehicles going to and from SIPA Honiara Port will use the Yacht Club Road hence the motorists are advised not to park anywhere along this road.
- Safety Measures
For public safety, the work area will be fully barricaded and clearly marked with appropriate traffic signs, warning devices, and safety barriers prior to the commencement of works.
- Pedestrian Access
Designated pedestrian walkways and crossing points will be maintained throughout the construction period.
Safety Officers and Traffic Controllers will be stationed at key locations to assist both pedestrians and motorists, ensuring road safety and smooth traffic movement.
- Traffic Management Plan
The attached Traffic Management Plan (TMP) is provided for public reference. Additional traffic signs and control measures may be introduced as required based on actual site conditions. Construction schedules may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and operational requirements.
