
PUBLIC NOTICE: Drainage Works & Traffic Diversion
Attention motorists and business houses along Honiara’s Central Business District.
Please be advised that drainage construction will begin this Thursday, February 26, 2026, between Commonwealth Street and the Hot Bread Roundabout.
These works are part of the ongoing Land and Maritime Connectivity Project (LMCP) to upgrade Mendana Avenue Road (Town Ground Roundabout to Honiara City Council Roundabout).
Schedule & Scope
Duration: Approximately 3 days (weather permitting)
Activities: Construction of stormwater pits and laying of pipes on the landside.
Traffic Management & Road Closure
To ensure the safety of workers and the public, the following changes will be in effect:

Road Closure: The landside section from Commonwealth Junction to Hot Bread Roundabout will be closed to general traffic.

Westbound Traffic (to White River): Please use the seaside lane starting from Hot Bread Junction, then merge back to the landside lane at Commonwealth Junction.

Access to Shops/Offices: Please use the designated access opening at the landside of Commonwealth Junction.
Safety First
The work area will be fully barricaded with clear traffic signs.
Traffic Controllers and Safety Officers will be on-site to assist pedestrians and motorists.
Please follow all directional signage and drive with caution.
