Health and safety of workers is a top priority for CCECC in their operations
A Chinese health and medical team have successfully conducted health check-ups for both Malaitans and Chinese nationals working for the China Civil Engineering Construction (CCECC) at their Aligegeo campsite in Auki, Malaita Province.
The visitation early this month provided acupuncture treatment and health consultations for the employees who are engaged with the Auki Road Rehabilitation Project to help their consciousness of maintaining a healthy work life.
One of the local employees, Robert Bae, expressed his appreciation to the visiting team, as it also marks the first time receiving specialized health and medical service since the initial phase of the project.
CCECC Auki Operations Manager Sun Cong Hao highlighted the company’s commitment to promoting the health and welfare of all employees.
“We are grateful to this Chinese medical team for their voluntary service and to our local partners for their support.
“Health and safety of our workers is a top priority in our operations, and this collaboration reflects our dedication to building not only roads but also people-to-people ties,” Mr. Hao said.
To date, this Auki road project has employed a total of 126 locals from surrounding communities.
Over the past months, CCECC has focused on river channel improvements, construction of retaining walls, slope protection, shoulder barriers, and ditching. Several of these components are already complete, while others are progressing steadily. These features are critical for enhancing drainage, preventing erosion, and reducing flood risks throughout the growing town of Auki.
This project encompasses the extensive rehabilitation of the 3.796-kilometer main road from Kilu’ufi Hospital to Kwaibala Bridge, as well as the upgrade of 16 feeder roads reflecting the government’s National Transport Plan 2017-2035.
Ministry of Infrastructure Development Transport Infrastructure Management Services Division continue to work closely with CCECC management overseeing the project phase and deliverables.
The health check-ups were conducted for both Malaitans and Chinese nationals at their Aligegeo campsite in Auki, Malaita Province.
This also marks the first-time workers receiving specialized health and medical service since the initial phase of the project.
