Minister Officially Opens RSIPF Provincial Police Commanders and Directors Conference 2025
The Honourable Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services Hon. Jimson Tanangada today officially opened the 2025 Provincial Police Commanders and Directors Conference of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters.
Themed “Adapting with Integrity: Innovating Policing for a Safer and Brighter Solomon Islands,” the conference brings together senior RSIPF leadership to reflect on achievements, address challenges, and set strategic priorities for the upcoming year.
In his opening remarks, the Minister highlighted the importance of continuous adaptation amid evolving technologies, complex crimes, and heightened community expectations. He emphasized that innovation must be paired with integrity and professionalism to maintain public trust and effective policing.
The conference will review progress on the 2025 Annual Business Plan and prepare for the implementation of the RSIPF’s new 10-Year Strategic Direction (2026–2036), aimed at modernizing the force and strengthening its role in national security. Additionally, a new monitoring and evaluation framework will be discussed to enhance performance measurement and accountability within the RSIPF.
The Minister acknowledged ongoing collaboration with key international partners, including Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), New Zealand’s SIPSP – Solomon Islands Police Support Program, and the CPLT – China Police Liaison Team, whose technical assistance and capacity-building support remain vital to the RSIPF’s development.
“Integrity is the foundation of public trust,” the Minister stated. “Innovation and technology enhance policing, but they must be grounded in ethical leadership, discipline, and respect for the law.”
Looking ahead, the government remains committed to supporting RSIPF modernization through initiatives such as the RSIPF Expansion and Development Program 2025–2035, currently before Cabinet, and plans for a new modern Police Academy.
The Minister concluded by commending the dedication of RSIPF leaders in preserving community safety and national stability and wished the conference fruitful deliberations leading to practical outcomes for the Solomon Islands’ security.
The RSIPF Provincial Police Commanders and Directors Conference 2025 is expected to strengthen policing strategies and enhance the safety and confidence of communities across the nation.
