Bloody Ridge communities train on self-defence tactics
The Bloody Ridge communities in east Honiara are among the latest communities trained on self-defence tactics provided by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) recently.
The CPLT continues to support the RSIPF through its partnership with the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) by conducting a community engagement programme to access practical knowledge and skills in maintaining a peaceful and supportive environment.
CPLT gave lessons to the members of the community on self-defence, control of suspects in groups, approaching and communicating with drunken individuals whilst maintaining personal safety, prevention of escalating issues, and response to emergencies.
The training also provides first aid skills and knowledge of when it is necessary to seek police assistance when a situation escalates.
The training enhanced the community members’ abilities to display basic security and safety knowledge within their communities.
CPLT also donated T-shirts, soccer balls, volleyballs and backpacks.
The Chairman of the Bloody Ridge Crime Prevention Committee (CPC), Mr Haniel Miniti, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the instructors of CPLT and RSIPF NCPD for conducting the programme within their communities.
Chairman Miniti said this type of training is the first of its kind ever conducted at the community level. CPLT and NCPD once again conducted a successful training in crime prevention resulting in positive participation, useful knowledge and practical skills, first aid and the importance of taking an active role within the community to promote a safer and healthier environment.
