Minister Tanangada Launches Postgraduate Diploma in Security Studies at Solomon Islands National University

The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) proudly launched its new Postgraduate Diploma in Security Studies programme on Friday at the Panatina Campus, marking a significant milestone in advancing national security education in the country.

The official launch was graced by Hon. Jimson Tanangada, Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services, who delivered the keynote address. Minister Tanangada emphasized the importance of the programme in enhancing the skills and knowledge of security professionals and contributing to the overall peace and stability of the Solomon Islands.

In his remarks, Minister Tanangada acknowledged the valuable collaboration between SINU and international partners, including the support from the Australian Government through the Solomon Islands Australia Partnership Program, highlighting the programme’s role in developing skilled security personnel to handle the evolving challenges in the region.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of SINU, Dr. Eric Katovai, alongside other university officials and distinguished guests, attended the event. The programme aims to equip postgraduate students with advanced expertise in various aspects of security studies, including policy development, strategic management, and operational response to security threats.

The launch of this diploma programme reflects SINU’s commitment to providing relevant and high-quality education that directly addresses national needs and supports the government’s agenda on maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.

This initiative is expected to strengthen the security sector by producing well-trained graduates capable of making significant contributions to the Solomon Islands’ national security framework.
