WRAP-UP FOR NORTH WEST CHOISEUL CONSTITUENCY CDF 2025 IMPLEMENTATION

The North West Choiseul Constituency (NWCC), under the leadership of Honourable Minister Harry Kuma, has successfully completed the implementation of its 2025 Constituency Development Program (CDP).

This followed a major delivery of projects to communities in the constituency last month (May) to support approved projects under the 2025 funding allocation.

The delivery also marks the second and final implementation phase of the $5 million allocation, which comprises $3.2 million under the CDF Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component and $1.8 million under the grant component to North West Choiseul, in accordance with the CDF Act 2023 guidelines.

Constituency Project Officer (CPO) Mala Poloso stated that the projects were delivered under four main categories in compliance with the CDF Act 2023. These include Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral, and Social & Cultural.

Goods delivered consist of hardware materials for community, school and church projects, water tanks and sanitation fittings and boats.

The beneficiaries include the Saqigae community and Voza community in Tepazaka Ward, as well as the Moli community in Vuruvachu Ward, which received solar deep freezer sets under the Fisheries project support. Voza Community High School received hardware materials, and Molenvanga United Church received hardware materials for their Church Dining Hall project.

Kubokanoko Catholic Church also received hardware materials for their project. The support was also extended to communities and individuals receiving special assistance, including community members living with disabilities and the elderly.

Part of the 2025 project support was delivered early this year.

This was funded through the CDF under the NWCC 2025 budget allocation to improve the social and economic livelihoods of the communities.

CPO Poloso highlighted that this achievement and support underscore the constituency office’s ongoing commitment under Hon. Kuma’s leadership to supporting communities and development initiatives within the constituency.

Mr. Poloso said that the delivery was successful, with beneficiaries and communities expressing gratitude to the government and the constituency office for their support.

He also thanked Honourable Minister Kuma for his continued backing of the constituency office to ensure that services and projects benefit the communities.

CPO Poloso also took the opportunity and acknowledged the Government, through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), for its continued support to NWCC to implement the 2025 CDF-funded projects.

He further recognized the people of NWCC for their continued patience, support, and understanding despite the delayed delivery.

This project delivery demonstrates the government’s commitment to rural development through MRD, supporting and improving rural livelihoods, even in small ways.

“This support under the Constituency Development Program aims to improve the livelihoods of our people in our most remote rural communities. Despite limited resources and finances, the government will continue to support constituency offices to facilitate progress, though in small but meaningful ways in and for our rural areas and people,” MRD emphasised.

On behalf of the NWCC Office, Mr. Poloso acknowledged the national government through MRD for its unwavering commitment and support for the Constituency Development Program, which continues to support various community development initiatives across the country.

He also recognized the ongoing leadership and guidance of Honourable Kuma and extended further appreciation to the constituents of NWCC for their continued support for their Member of Parliament and the constituency office.

According to CPO Poloso, the 2026 projects will be delivered once funds are made available from the national government.

The CDP is a national program of the Solomon Islands Government (SIG), administered by MRD and implemented across 50 constituencies to improve the social and economic livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders.
