Twenty police officers trained on first aid
Twenty officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at White River Police Station have trained on first aid recently.
The training is part of strengthening the frontline officers’ practical response capability for unnatural death incident scenes and first aid.
The specialised training focused on the site preliminary assessment of the deceased person.
The specialised training was delivered by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT). Adopting a two-module structure tailored for front-line law enforcement needs.
The training elaborates on core principles for responding to unnatural death scenes. It equips officers to distinguish between suicide, homicide and natural death cases and provides a practical on-site rapid screening checklist for reference during field operations.
For the scene first-aid module, the training covers practical rapid homeostasis techniques.
It explains distinct features and management approaches for capillary bleeding, venous bleeding and arterial bleeding, including how to locate compression points and walk through step-by-step intervention procedures for bleeding injuries at different body locations.
The training ensures participants can apply their newly learned skills immediately at operational incidents.
Trainees analysed real-world scenarios, drafted response plans and completed hands-on simulation exercises. Following each practical activity, CPLT instructors led reviews and debriefed to identify and resolve operational gaps on the spot.
At the closing of the training, Supervising Officer Commanding (OCS) White River Police Station Sergeant (Sgt) Lincy Margret Totorea said, “We appreciate CPLT for organising this well-structured training.
Sgt Totorea said, “This programme fills critical gaps in our local operational techniques and working methodologies. It will greatly enhance our capacity not only for handling unnatural death scenes but also for delivering on-site first aid.”
OCS Totorea said, “These skills are vital for officers’ self-protection as well as providing life-saving assistance to local community members. We look forward to more hands-on specialised training sessions delivered by CPLT.”
