TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Roadwork and Lane Diversions in front of BSP Bank, Mendana Avenue
The public is advised that road construction works at the drainage manhole located on the seaside section of Mendana Avenue in front of Bank South Pacific (BSP) are scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
The works will involve the milling of the existing pavement and asphalt sealing and are expected to be completed within two (2) days, subject to weather conditions.
To facilitate these works, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:
- The seaside lane from Town Ground Roundabout to the Heritage Park (HP) Roundabout will be temporarily closed to traffic. Eastbound vehicles will be diverted to the inner (left) lane on the landside section from Town Ground Roundabout and will rejoin the seaside lane at the HP Roundabout.
- The work area will be clearly barricaded, and appropriate traffic signs and safety devices will be installed prior to the commencement of works.
- Pedestrian walkways and designated crossing points will be provided at selected locations. Safety Officers and Traffic Controllers will be stationed on-site to assist pedestrians and motorists and to ensure the safe and orderly flow of traffic.
- Due to lane closures and reduced road width, traffic congestion is expected. Members of the public are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly, particularly when entering or travelling through the Central Business District (CBD).
- Motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow the directions of Traffic Controllers and project personnel at all times while works are underway.
- Pedestrians are requested to use only the designated crossing points to ensure their safety and minimise disruption to traffic flow.
- The attached Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) provide further details on the traffic arrangements. Additional traffic signs may be installed as required, and the construction schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and site requirements.
Prefer to the attached Traffic Management Plan for details.
