SPC Director-General Pays Courtesy Visit to MALD Minister
Director-General of the Pacific Community (SPC), Dr Paula Vivili earlier this morning paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development (MALD), Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi, reaffirming the strong partnership between SPC and the Solomon Islands Government.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in agriculture and forestry, technical assistance, regional priorities and preparations for Solomon Islands to host the 5th Pacific Week of Agriculture and Forestry next year.
Minister Wasi briefed Dr Vivili and the SPC delegation on preparations for the regional event, including coordination with government agencies, logistics, venues, accommodation, transport, protocol and security. He also noted that a Cabinet paper on the event was being progressed.
Dr Vivili commended Minister Wasi for his leadership and highlighted the importance of greater Solomon Islands participation within SPC.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together to advance sustainable, resilient and inclusive agriculture and food systems for Solomon Islands and the Pacific region.
