Solomon Islands High Commissioner Hosts Solomon Islands Artists During PNG Tour
The Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency William Soaki, recently hosted two of Solomon Islands’ most celebrated music acts, Onetox and Sean Rii with the D# Band during their successful music tours in Papua New Guinea.
On 17 March 2026, High Commissioner Soaki hosted a special meet-and-greet luncheon for members of Onetox—Mossa, Koffi, Dehvande, and Toontoon (Magic Finger)—during the group’s PNG Link-Up Tour.
The tour, which ran throughout March and April, featured performances in Port Moresby, Lae, Buka, Arawa, Kokopo, and Popondetta. All shows attracted strong audiences and were sold out, reflecting the group’s growing popularity and strong fan base across Papua New Guinea.
On 5 May 2026, the High Commissioner also hosted a luncheon for Sean Rii and the D# Band, led by renowned musician Ronnie Riti (Paeva). The group completed two successful sold-out performances in Port Moresby and Lae.
Speaking during the engagements, High Commissioner Soaki commended the artists for representing Solomon Islands with pride and distinction through their music.
He acknowledged the important role that music and culture play in strengthening people-to-people connections and fostering closer relations between Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
The artists expressed their appreciation to the High Commissioner and the Solomon Islands High Commission for the warm hospitality and support extended to them during their visits.
High Commissioner Soaki also acknowledged and thanked promoter Terrence Rini of Makasi Sounds and Entertainment for creating opportunities for Solomon Islands artists to showcase their talents and share their music with audiences in Papua New Guinea.
The successful tours further highlight the growing cultural links between Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea and demonstrate the positive role of music in promoting friendship, understanding, and regional connections among Pacific peoples.
