Solomon Islands High Commission in India Co-Hosts Inaugural Investment Forum
The Solomon Islands High Commission in India, in partnership with the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME), successfully hosted the inaugural Solomon Islands Investment Forum on 26 May 2026 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The forum was co-hosted by the Solomon Islands High Commissioner to India, His Excellency Anthony Makabo, and brought together diplomats, potential investors, MSME experts, and industry representatives to explore opportunities for investment, business collaboration, and long-term commercial partnerships with Solomon Islands.
The event was officially opened by the President of WASME and former Ambassador of Mauritius to Russia, His Excellency Professor Dr. K.C. Jankee.
In his keynote address, H.E. Jankee described the forum as “not merely an event, but the beginning of a new chapter that will foster meaningful collaboration and structured economic cooperation between Solomon Islands and India within the MSME sector.”
In his remarks, High Commissioner Makabo reaffirmed Solomon Islands’ commitment to attracting quality investment and strengthening economic ties with India.
“Solomon Islands is open for business. We welcome genuine and transparent partnerships and are looking for investors who will grow with us, create employment opportunities for our people, and contribute to building a sustainable and prosperous Solomon Islands,” High Commissioner Makabo said.
He further noted that India is a natural partner in Solomon Islands’ economic development journey and highlighted key sectors identified by the Government for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
These sectors include fisheries and the blue economy, agriculture and agribusiness, tourism and hospitality, renewable energy, real estate and infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, digital infrastructure, and mining and minerals.
The High Commissioner also outlined the range of incentives available to investors and emphasized the Government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for sustainable and mutually beneficial investment.
The forum concluded on a positive note, with participants acknowledging the significant untapped potential of the Solomon Islands–India investment corridor. Discussions highlighted the opportunities for Indian MSMEs to collaborate with Solomon Islands Government agencies and private sector stakeholders across priority development sectors.
The Solomon Islands High Commission in New Delhi remains committed to promoting economic diversification, facilitating foreign direct investment, and supporting sustainable development through continued engagement with India’s dynamic private sector and business community.
