Solomon Islands government launches digital transformation journey
HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Public Service (MPS), has embarked on a digital transformation journey, aiming to modernise its public administration and improve service delivery to citizens.
Speaking at the opening of the Public Service Digital Governance Workshop, Minister of Public Service Hon. Francis Sade emphasised the importance of digitalisation in building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centred public administration.

“The Solomon Islands Government recognises that digitalisation is no longer optional—it is fundamental to building a modern, efficient, transparent, and citizen-centred public administration,” Minister Sade said.
The workshop, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Public Service and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), brings together global experts in digital governance to share best practices and guide the country’s digital transformation journey.
The government aims to achieve several key objectives, including modernising public administration through digital tools and platforms, improving service delivery, and establishing a professional, capable, and technology-enabled workforce.

Minister Sade thanked UN DESA and other partners for their support, emphasising the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving the country’s digital transformation goals.
The workshop is expected to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and practical pathways to accelerate the country’s digital transformation journey.
