SOLOMON ISLANDS GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE TO ADDRESS THE IMPACTS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The covid-19 virus that started in China in December 2019 has become a global Pandemic with currently 3.5 million reported cases of infections and over 245,000 deaths worldwide.
The impact of the pandemic is being felt across the world, through the pacific region and in the Solomon Islands. It is expected that the situation will get worse in the months ahead before we see any improvements.
Both the IMF, CBSI and MOFT predicted that 2020 would be an “exceptionally difficult” year, the bleak outlook applying to advance and developing counties alike, but with the emerging and low income economies the most at risk.
