Solomon Islands Electoral Commission Extends Condolences on the Passing of Commissioner Lady Joy Finioa Kere
The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) expresses its profound sadness at the passing of Commissioner of the Political Parties Commission, the Late Lady Joy Finioa Kere, on the evening of 23 January 2026.
On behalf of Chairlady Madam Taeasi Sanga, Members of the Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer, staff of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, and UNDP Project Staff, we extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to her husband, Sir Dr Nathan Kere, her children and grandchildren, as well as to the members and staff of the Political Parties Commission and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
As a key democratic partner institution, the SIEC shares in the sorrow of losing a respected colleague, leader, and stateswoman.
Lady Joy Finioa Kere, in her role as Commissioner of the Political Parties Commission, worked closely and collaboratively with the Electoral Commission to uphold democratic principles and values, and to promote a stable, inclusive, and tolerant political environment in Solomon Islands.
She will be remembered for her supportive leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to strengthening political party governance and democratic integrity in our country.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband, children, family members, members of the Political Parties Commission, colleagues, and friends during this time of deep mourning. May comfort, strength, and peace be found in the legacy of her life and service.
