SOLOMON ISLANDS AND FIJI RENEW LONG STANDING FRIENDSHIP
Solomon Islands and the Republic of Fiji this week renewed their longstanding friendship and pledged to further deepen traditional relations.
Prime Ministers Hon. Manasseh Sogavare and Frank Bainimarama met on the margins of the Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting in Suva, Fiji today and reassured each other of this commitment.
Both leaders reaffirmed, “Solomon Islands and Fiji relationship is special. It is no ordinary relationship. It is traditional and started long ago. We will support each other in good and bad times- a strong unity bond.”
To further cement this traditional partnership, the Solomon Islands government will build itself a permanent home on a piece of land offered by the Government of Fiji at Nasese, Suva.
Solomon Islands has expressed its intention to reciprocate the gesture.
Prime Minister Sogavare has today signed the Suva agreement, taking the same approach by other regional members, a show of collective unity.
