
SIEC appoint Senior Election Officials
THE Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) have appointed seven Senior Electoral Officials ahead of the by-elections for West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Provincial Ward scheduled for 4th June, 2025.
The by-elections look set to see more than 10,800 voters cast their ballots across 28 polling stations (including the pre-polling station for election officials) inside four provincial wards within the two electorates.
These seven new SIEC appointees are expected to supervise more than 150 polling officials who will conduct the by-elections in West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Ward respectively.
The new appointments are as follows:
- Joseph Sua (Election Manager)
- Albert Moli (Returning Officer – Paripao Ward)
- Dwight MacDallas Hila (Assistant Returning Officer – Paripao Ward)
- Willie Kokopu (Returning Officer – West Guadalcanal Constituency)
- Anneth Tanda Game (Assistant Returning Officer – Savulei Ward)
- Clement Marigeni (Assistant Returning Officer – Tangarare Ward)
- Albert Kua (Assistant Returning Officer – Wandere Bay Ward)
SIEC Chief Electoral Officer, Jasper Harewood said, “Out of the 45 applications we received, we have appointed seven who have taken up the roles as the Election Manager, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers. We are also now in the process of recruiting 150 polling officials for the elections”.
Recruitment for polling officials is still open, and will close on the 25th of April, 2025.
SIEC meanwhile continues to encourages all women and young people from West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Ward to apply for these positions.
