SICCI And PNG Institute of Directors Relaunches Directorship Program to Strengthen National Governance

HONIARA – In a significant move to bolster the foundation of the nation’s economy, the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), in partnership with the Papua New Guinea Institute of Directors (PNGID), today announced a comprehensive three-day Directorship Training Program. This intensive course is designed to elevate corporate governance standards, board effectiveness, and sustainable leadership across both private and public enterprises in Solomon Islands.

The program responds to a critical need for enhanced governance capabilities as Solomon Islands seeks to drive broad-based economic growth, attract investment, and ensure the resilience of its key institutions. By integrating the PNGID’s renowned Directors Development Program (DDP) with a customised focus on SME and State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) governance, the training provides a uniquely relevant framework for Pacific business leaders.

Scheduled for 10-12 March, 2026, the curriculum covers seven core units: Corporate Governance fundamentals, Board Excellence, Strategic Oversight, Financial Literacy, Risk Management, Diversity & Inclusion, and specialised modules for SOEs and SMEs. The program is open to current directors, board members, senior executives, and emerging leaders.

The PNGID President, Clarence Hoot, in his remarks, stated that the Institute was proud to partner with SICCI in this initiative. He added that Regional collaboration was the cornerstone of building a stronger, more resilient Melanesian business community.
