RSIPF organized a send-off service for late SSgt Aevo

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has organized a send-off service for late Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Michael Aevo on 11 May 2026 at All Saints Anglican Church in Honiara.

The send-off service was organized after the late Aevo passed away on 5 May 2026 at the National Referral Hospital after an illness. His body has been sent to Savo for his final resting place.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Ian Vaevaso, in his eulogy remarks, says, “The passing of the serving member of the RSIPF, the late SSgt Aevo, to work with colleagues is a shocking and very difficult thing for me and the RSIPF members.”

“I am lost for words to describe the sadness and the pain that all of us have experienced when we received the news of the passing away of our dear brother the late SSgt Aevo,” said Commissioner Vaevaso.

Mr. Vaevaso informs immediate families, relatives, and friends that police are deeply saddened by the unfortunate and untimely passing away of late Aevo. He is a wonderful officer and a loyal, disciplined, courageous, and committed member of the RSIPF.

He said police were incredibly grateful and commended late Aevo’s enormous service and contribution to the development of the RSIPF and the maintenance of law and order in our country, the Solomon Islands.

The new police chief thanked the family of late Aevo for allowing him to be part of the police family to serve our beloved nation. We can reflect on the powerful memories he left with us and know that those feelings can bring us all comfort and warm our hearts.

Late Aevo was born on 21 July 1970 at Panuelu Clinic on Savo Island, Central Islands Province. He attended Siota Secondary School from 1984 to 1986. He was enlisted in the RSIPF as a police recruit on 17 January 1993.

Aevo had served the RSIPF, the government, and the people of the Solomon Islands (SI) for about 34 years. During his career with the RSIPF, he had made significant contributions to frontline operational duties, investigations, and professional standards.

He demonstrated the highest integrity and professionalism in the maintenance of law and order, ensuring a peaceful SI for all. His dedication to duty is exceptional.

“We greatly value and honor the contributions that late SSgt Aevo had made to the RSIPF and the safety and security of people of SI. The past 34 years he has served in the RSIPF are highly commendable. He is honored and respected by all ranks and files of the RSIPF for unselfishly giving his service to the people of this country,” said Commissioner Vaevaso.

It is sad to note that his untimely passing away caught him quickly and took his life. His passing away is not only a loss to the wife and children, relatives, and communities of Paibeta Village in the Savo Islands and elsewhere but also a great loss for the RSIPF. He had such a big life and touched so many people.

“I salute him for his steadfast service in the RSIPF and for the SI community. He will be long remembered by members of the RSIPF and policing partners he had served with,” Mr. Vaevaso said.
