
RSIPF investigates death of a male person at GPPOL, Guadalcanal
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tetere Police Station in Guadalcanal Province are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on the Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited (GPPOL) main road on 1 June 2026.
The deceased was discovered by a driver of a GPPOL school bus.
Police attended the scene and discovered that the deceased was a man from Temotu Province who was employed by GPPOL and resided at GPPOL 2. Some of his personal belongings were found approximately 10 metres away from where his body was discovered.
Initial reports indicate that earlier in the evening, prior to the incident, the deceased was seen entering the GPPOL 3 security gate with the intention of visiting his daughter. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. He was later found lying on the main road.
The RSIPF Forensics Team attended the scene and transported the deceased to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) morgue for further examination.
Police are continuing their investigation and are calling on anyone residing around GPPOL 2 and GPPOL 3 who may have information relating to this incident to come forward and assist with inquiries.
The RSIPF extends its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased during this difficult time.
Police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and ensuring that anyone found responsible in connection with this death will be dealt with.
