RSIPF condemn the AI-generated photo of the Anthony Saru building on fire that has gone viral on social media.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is strongly condemning the use of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated photo posted on social media today (17 May 2026).
The condemnation followed a viral social media post claiming that the Anthony Saru building was on fire and there was a big riot happening.
RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Ian Vaevaso said this kind of AI-generated photo should not be screenshotted and shared online.
“I condemn such posts and ask our good social media users to stop sharing such posts or even screenshot them and repost them,” said Commissioner Vaevaso.
Mr. Vaevaso said, “With the formation of our new government, people should not create such alarming posts that disturb and cause fear to our people.”
He said it is advisable for the social media users to check the source and verify it before sharing it. By sharing it, it will keep providing misinformation to our people.
Your police, the RSIPF, are closely monitoring all social media platforms and will bring people involved for questioning and hold them accountable for their actions.
