Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tulagi Police Station in Central province have arrested and charged two male suspects for alleged brewing and selling of kwaso on 5 March 2021.
An initial report said that the suspects have been producing and selling kwaso at two different locations at Tulagi.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Inspector Walter Manefakale says, “Police attended to the report after receiving information from members of the public that the suspects have been selling kwaso. Police officers conducted a raid and confiscated one bucket and two bottles containing kwaso.”
The suspects were arrested and placed in custody at the Tulagi Police Station.”
They were later released and after being charged with Illegal sale of liquor contrary to section 57 (1) of the Liquor Act and bailed to appear in court on 5 July 2021.
“I call on our good people in Central Province to refrain from such illegal activities in our communities. Police will not tolerate anyone found producing and selling kwaso. If you have any information about anyone producing or selling kwaso, please report it to the Tulagi Police Station on phones 32999 or 32117.”
