RSIPF arrests suspect with alleged arson in Renbel Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station in the Rennell and Bellona (Renbel) Province have arrested a 22-year-old male suspect with alleged arson following an incident at Hatagua Village on the early hour on the 28th February 2021
Supervising Provincial Police Commander Renbel Province Staff Sergeant Eddie Peseika explains, “It is alleged that the suspect burnt down one permanent dwelling house at Hatagua Village on West Rennell belonging to his adopted parents.”
Staff Sergeant Peseika says, “Police was alerted when the house was on fire but were unable to stop it.”
“The suspect was arrested at about 09:25am on the same date after he set fire on the house and escape, later placed in cell at Tigoa Police Station after a formal complaint was lodged and case been registered as police continue their investigations. The suspect was charged with arson contrary to section 319 of the Penal Code. He will be transferred to the Rove Police Headquarters for possible remand while police investigation continues,” says Staff Sergeant Peseika.
