Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki, Malaita Province have arrested and charged 18 suspects during Operation Festive Season.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Inspector Michael Ramosaea says, “17 accused have been arrested, charged and bailed to appear before the Auki Magistrates’ Court by the end of January 2021 whilst one suspect was remanded straight after the investigation.”
“Those arrests have been done following kwaso (homebrew) raid, fatal accident and other offences such as;
PPC Ramosaea says, “There were 10 raids conducted during the Operations Festive Season and it has led to successful arrests of three male suspect while others escaped from Police up on arrival.”
Inspector Ramosaea adds, “Police officers in Auki also involved in the Safe Boat Operation. Vessels had been checked upon arrival at Auki wharf and before departing to Honiara. Captains warned for no over loading of ships. The operation will continue to make sure each vessel carrying right amount of passengers.”
