RSIPF 105 new recruits to commence their intensive 20-week training program

The Honourable Jimson Tanangada, Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, today addressed 105 new recruits at the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) headquarters in Rove, marking the commencement of their intensive 20-week training program.

The recruits, comprising 70 males and 35 females from every province including Honiara, were selected through a rigorous process emphasizing diversity, fairness, and commitment to professionalism. Minister Tanangada highlighted the program’s focus on producing constables with high knowledge, integrity, and honesty to enhance community safety and build public confidence in the RSIPF.

Over the next 20 weeks, recruits will receive comprehensive instruction from RSIPF academy staff, specialist instructors, and guest presenters from partner agencies such as the Chinese Police Liaison Team and the SIPSP New Zealand support program.

The updated curriculum covers Solomon Islands laws, ethical policing, community engagement methods, and practical skills to address modern challenges. Minister Tanangada urged the recruits to demonstrate full commitment, hard work, perseverance, and teamwork while adhering to academy standing orders.

“You are not just learning to uphold the law; you are training to be guardians of peace and justice,” the Minister stated, emphasizing roles as mentors, advocates, and first responders against crime.

He congratulated the recruits on their achievements and wished them success, reinforcing the RSIPF’s dedication to a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Solomon Islands.
