Re-opening of SIPA Junction

The public is advised that the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) Junction will be re-opened to traffic effective 22 June 2026, following the completion of concreting works and the required concrete curing period.

In relation to these works, the public is further advised of the following traffic arrangements:

1. Eastbound vehicles will use the landside left lane via the temporary ramp before the Hot Bread Roundabout and proceed to the seaside section of the MID Roundabout using the ramp in front of the Honiara City Council Building.
2. Vehicles accessing Central Plaza, Hyundai Mall, and Alvaro Building will continue to use the temporary ramp located in front of the western gate of the Central Market for both entry and exit.
3. Once asphalt surfacing works along the seaside section between the Central Market and the MID Roundabout are completed, eastbound vehicles will be redirected to the seaside lane via a temporary ramp located after the western gate of the Central Market.
4. Pedestrian walkways and designated crossing points will be provided at selected locations. Traffic Controllers from the Contractor, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), and the Road Transport Board (RTB) will be stationed on site to assist pedestrians and motorists and to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
5. Due to lane narrowing in certain sections, traffic congestion is expected. Members of the public are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly when entering the Central Business District (CBD).
6. Bus terminals for eastbound passengers will remain temporarily located within the MID Works Compound until further notice.
7. Pedestrians are required to use the underpass and cross only at designated crossing points to ensure public safety and help minimize traffic congestion.
