Commissioner of the correctional service of Solomon Island Gabriel Manelusi and his Executive including six senior executive’s team as participants are officially witness the opening ceremony of the Early Management Development Program (EMDP) with the QCS Commissioner Paul Stewart, QCS Deputy Commissioner James Koulouris, QCS General Manager Capability Learning Development Chief Superintendent Alan Butler, DFAT First Secretary, Mary Flanagan and DFAT Frank Fono, Program Manager, Cardno Solomon Islands Justice Program, Team Leader, Daniel Evans and the program facilitators.
The official opening ceremony was held virtually by zoom at the Correctional Service conference room on Wednesday 20, 2022
This was made possible by Australian Government funding provided through Memorandum of Understanding between Correctional Service Solomon Islands and Queensland Corrective Services in relation to a twinning partnership for delivery of training programs to staffs, signed on the 09th September 2018.
Speaking during a brief opening ceremony held for QCS participants at the Correctional Headquarter recently, Queensland Correction Service (QCS) Commissioner Paul Stewart generally in his remarks on line spoke of the strong ties that the MOU had in relation to professional development. The QCS Commissioner stated that the EMDP was a great training program that will assist the CSSI team develop their leadership capabilities.
In response Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi, acknowledged the QCS Commissioner for his ongoing support to CSSI and recorded a special thanks to General Manager Capability Learning Development QCS Chief Superintendent Alan Butler and the facilitators who will deliver the program which offers high value of ongoing contribution and support to CSSI.
Commissioner Manelusi addressed the six-senior officer who were participants on the remote learning Diploma Program with Queensland Corrective Service for next 12 months commencing today 20 April 2022, to make use of the training and the 12 months study which will help prepare for higher leadership roles. Commissioner Manelusi recognised the existing knowledge and on the job experience and the EMDP will give extra confidence in your ability to make decisions, the ability to assess and respond to emergencies and other associated security risks.
He adds there is a generational shift already happening, as work continues to implement the fundamental changes brought about by the QCS for CSSI by previous graduated Diploma students in CSSI. The expectation from the Government and people of SI and CSSI Executive is to put to good use and value the golden opportunity invested to us by the Government and people of Australia.
“CSSI is gearing towards developing their capital human resource development and to growth you on your ongoing development.” Manelusi said
He also acknowledged and thank the Government of Australia for support CSSI on this program of EMDP
