Police at the Gizo Police Station in Western Province have checked 80 vehicles during a traffic operation in Gizo town on 14 September 2021.
The traffic operation conducted mainly to check for defect vehicles, driving license and third party insurance.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “From the 80 vehicles that have been checked during the operation, 43 vehicles have expired documents including vehicle licensed, driving licensed and third party insurance.”
PPC Lenialu says, “Those expired documents and vehicles is to be crossed checked with licensing office in Gizo. After verifying those documents then drivers or owners of the vehicles will be charge for court.”
Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “Public especially drivers and vehicle owners need to work together in order to maintain law and order in our country or township. We must bear in mind that safety of our people and ourselves is in our hands when using our road.”
“I appeal to all drivers and vehicle owners in the Western Province to comply with all the traffic rules and regulation under the Traffic Act. To be safe and road worthy vehicles must be checked and service regularly with the right process by consulting the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and renewal of all licensed timely as required by our laws,” says PPC Lenialu.
