Police arrest a 16-year-old male suspect for rape incident in WP
Police in Gizo have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a 4-year-old girl in Marovo Lagoon, Western Province (WP) recently.
It was alleged that the suspect went to the victim’s house and asked the victim to follow him to a garden to look for the victim’s mother.
When they arrived at the garden, the suspect ordered the victim to remove her clothes, but she refused. The suspect undressed the victim, forced her on to the ground and raped her.
The defendant was arrested and dealt with and charged with one count of rape contrary to sections 136F (1) (a) & (b) of the Penal Code (Cap 26), as amended by the Penal Code (Amendment) (Sexual Offences) Act 2016.
Police will not tolerate such behaviour. Anyone who has experienced a similar incident or has been threatened is encouraged to come forward and report the matter to the nearest police station.
