PNA Meeting concludes with significant decisions
Honiara, 16 June 2023: The week-long 18th Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) Ministerial Meeting held in Honiara, Solomon Islands from June 12th – 16th concluded with significant decisions that will empower and the further strengthen the vision and mission of the Organisation into the future.
Speaking at the end of the meeting on Friday 16 June, PNA Chair and Solomon Islands Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Nestor Giro expressed appreciation for the collective effort that made the event a resounding success.
“Together, we have made significant decisions that will empower our officials to fulfil their responsibilities and drive forward our vision for the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA),” he acknowledged.
Hon Giro also acknowledged the dedication of the officials who had worked tirelessly throughout the meeting. Recognizing their hard work and commitment in shaping the agenda, he emphasized their instrumental role in guiding the discussions and laying a strong foundation for the future of the PNA.
Furthermore, Minister Giro extended his deepest gratitude to Dr. Sangaa Clark, the CEO of the PNA Office, and her team for their outstanding leadership and meticulous arrangement of the entire event.
“The strategic guidance and unwavering commitment displayed by the CEO and her team in preparing this meeting deserve our utmost appreciation. Their dedication to progress and relentless pursuit of implementing our decisions have been truly commendable,” Minister Giro expressed.
Addressing Dr. Clark directly, he acknowledged the weight of responsibility on her shoulders and urged her to continue driving the implementation of the work program, assuring her of the unwavering support of the Ministerial body.
Minister Giro extended his gratitude to all the ministers and officials for an exceptional week of fruitful discussions and wished them safe travels back to their respective countries.
“I wish each one of you a safe journey back to your families, and I eagerly look forward to our next meeting in Pohnpei FSM, next year for our annual gathering in 2024,” he concluded.
PNA countries are the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Tokelau with its Headquarter in Majuro, Marshall Islands. ENDS///
