PM Wale completes cabinet line-up
Honiara, Solomon Islands – Prime Minister Matthew Wale has completed his 24-member Cabinet, with the remaining 16 Ministers sworn in at Government House today.
The new Ministers took their oaths of office and allegiance before the Governor-General Sir David Tiva Kapu.
The sworn-in Ministers include:
- Gordon Darcy Lilo – Finance and Treasury
- Ricky Nelson Houenipwela – Foreign Affairs and External Trade
- Peter Kenilorea Junior – National Planning and Development Coordination
- Manasseh Maelanga – Home Affairs
- John Maneniaru – Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs
- Makario Tagini – Forestry and Research
- Derrick Rawcliffe Manuari – Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification
- Wayne Osopo Ghemu – Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Management and Meteorology.
- John Tuhaika Junior – Police, National Security and Correctional Services
- Morris Toiraena – Health and Medical Services
- Polycarp Paea – Fisheries and Marine Resources
- Alfred Lazarus Rimah – Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening
- Daniel Suilea Waneoroa – Rural Development
- George Temahua – Traditional Governance, Peace and Ecclesiastical Affairs
- Oliver Salopuka – Lands, Housing and Survey
- Stephen Kumi – Education and Human Resources Development
The first seven Ministers were sworn-in yesterday.
Wale expressed confidence in his Cabinet, saying they’re ready to serve. The Cabinet will meet soon to discuss priorities and a government name.
“We are complete and ready to work,” he said.
