PM Commends Strong Solomon Islands–Australia Community Partnership
Honiara, Solomon Islands, Thursday 30 October 2025 – Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele has commended Australia’s ongoing support for community development across the country.
Speaking this evening at the Solomon Islands–Australia Community Partnership Awards Night at the Mendana Hotel, Prime Minister Manele congratulated new project beneficiaries and coordinators who signed agreements during the event.
He said the program reflects strong development cooperation between the two countries and directly contributes to Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy objectives.
“This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to improving the lives of Solomon Islanders and strengthening community resilience,” the Prime Minister said.
Under the Australia–Solomon Islands Development Partnership Plan 2024–2029, the initiative aims to deliver 100 community projects annually. This year, a total of 108 community projects have been approved across eight provinces and 33 constituencies, surpassing the annual target.
The Prime Minister thanked the Australian Government for its continued support, noting that the Solomon Islands Government remains committed to working closely with development partners to ensure sustainable, long-term community development.
He also acknowledged the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC) for its close collaboration with the Australian High Commission in coordinating and implementing the program in line with the Solomon Islands Government’s development priorities.
Prime Minister Manele encouraged local project coordinators to ensure proper implementation and maintenance of funded projects to maximise benefits for communities.
