PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare has issued a stern warning to foreigners from high-risk countries that failed to comply with COVID-19 vaccination protocols will not be allowed to enter the country.
Speaking during his nationwide address Monday this week, the Prime Minister said all non-citizens who plan to travel to Solomon Islands from the listed restricted countries up to 14 days prior to travel will not be allowed to enter Solomon Islands.
The restricted countries are:
Asia-Pacific Region
The Americas. Africa, Europe, and Russia
“Non-citizens will only be considered entry if they have completed their required vaccination doses at least 4 weeks prior to entry into Solomon Islands,” he said.
Prime Minister Sogavare said that even if they have completed their full vaccination, they will still be subject to our quarantine requirements and COVID-19 tests after their arrival.
“Foreign nationals living in these countries that are not vaccinated and are critical for priority SIG projects will need carefully managed pre-departure plans that will include home quarantine for the full pre-departure period to be actively managed by our health team,” he said.
The Prime Minister said Solomon Island citizens returning from these countries must also fulfil all pre-departure requirements before entry.
“We also encourage that the technical advisors coming from these countries to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible so that they can travel to Solomon Islands. Otherwise, they can travel to low-risk countries and be quarantined there for 14 days before they are eligible to enter Solomon Islands,” he said.
