PCDF Projects Set for Handover in Western Province
Four major community infrastructure projects funded through the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) are scheduled for handover this April in Western Province, marking continued progress in strengthening service delivery and local development across Solomon Islands. The handover programme will take place from 20–22 April 2026.
In Marovo Lagoon, the Seghe Administration Office (Ward 22 – Nono, Marovo Constituency) is set to bring government services closer to remote communities. The Kukudu Suspension Bridge in Ward 26 – North Kolombangara, Gizo Kolombangara Constituency will improve safe access for residents, particularly school children and nearby villages.

In Gizo Kolombangara Constituency, two major community facilities will be handed over: the Gizo Youth Centre (Ward 11), which will provide a dedicated space for youth development, and the Gizo Market Jetty (Ward 11), expected to enhance local trade by improving transport access for market vendors and rural suppliers.

Meanwhile handover programme for PCDF projects in Choiseul Province have been postponed to a later because of the aftermath of cyclone maila. A new handover date will be officially communicated once arrangements are finalized.
Strengthening Provincial Development Nationwide
The upcoming handovers reflect the ongoing commitment of the PCDF to support provincial governments in delivering infrastructure that directly responds to community needs. These projects are expected to generate long-term social and economic benefits while reinforcing the importance of decentralized development across Solomon Islands.
Since its inception in 2009, the PCDF implemented under the Provincial Government Strengthening Programme (PGSP) has funded more than 1,600 infrastructure projects nationwide, demonstrating sustained commitment to improving provincial governance and service delivery.
