NEOC Activation remains at Level 1 despite warning cancellation

HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS -The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) activation remains at Level 1 (Standby Mode) despite the cancellation of all Heavy rain and Strong wind Warnings issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services.
This is important to allow for continuing support for coordination of provincial impact assessments and possible response actions through the Provincial Emergency Operations Centres (PEOCs).
Meanwhile the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), apart from Guadalcanal Province PEOC, advises all Provincial Emergency Operation Centres to remain at Level 1 Activation Mode, to continue their coordination of impacts at respective Provinces.
Based on the reports received, the Guadalcanal Province PEOC is currently activated to Level 2 (Full on activation) since 28 January 2026.
NDMO also advises that all relevant Provincial and National Sectors will be spearheading the impact assessments and possible emergency response operations in all affected areas.
The NDMO appreciates the swift collaborative response by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and the Guadalcanal PEOC for the urgent repairs of Honiara Roads and the Tanaeba (Kohi) bridge, confirmed to commence this week.
This is part of the emergency response, to the recent heavy rain and flood event that, cause damage to the identified roads and bridge.
Reports reaching the NDMO through PEOC and NEOC, indicated there has been considerable impacts on Infrastructure, Agriculture and Food security, Shelter, Human, livelihood, and protections and Communication sectors.
To reduce the impacts of the current bad weather the Public is advised to always listen and adhere to all warnings and safety messages. Regular alerts, updates and messages will be made by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services and National Disaster Management Office through, SIBC and FM stations.
