The Acting Director of the National Security Division (NSD), in the Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Mr Ronny Horo, and National Security Adviser, in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, John Wasi, yesterday made a joint presentation on the overview and update of National Security Strategy to senior officers of the Policy Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (PIMEU), within the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
In his presentation, the Acting Director of the NSD, Mr Ronny Horo stated that work on the National Security Strategy has completed, though, it has taken over few years, with much consultation and engaged validation to develop the National Security Strategy. On this basis it is inclusive, relevant and has broad buy-in across Solomon Islands.
“The National Security Strategy once completed and approved by Cabinet will be a living document and will be subject to reviews and updating”, says Mr Horo.
The National Security Adviser, Mr John Wasi, also updated the meeting on the National Border Strategy as well as the Office of the National Security Assessment (ONSA), which is currently being finalised to support the overall security of Solomon Islands.
Meanwhile, the National Consultant of Fundamental Reform Sector in the Policy Implementation, Management and Evaluation Unit (PIMEU), Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Mr Bernard Bata’anisia, thanked the National Security Team for the presentation and update and added that OPMC looks forward to working closely with MPNSCS in moving forward with the implementation of the National Security Strategy, once completed, and approved by Cabinet.
The presentation by the Director of National Security Team is a series of seminar presentation that PIMEU would continue to convene for discussion review and analyses of key issues with relevant key stakeholders both in government and private sector.
Also in the presentation were the Deputy Secretary to Prime Minister, Dr Derick Mane, Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, Ms Florence Joel, Under Secretary in the Ministry of the Police National Security and Correctional Services, Mr Mactus Forau, Policy Consultants in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Senior Officials from the Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services.
