NATIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL GRATEFUL FOR DONATION OF 24 WHEEL CHAIRS FROM SOLOMON ISLANDS RSEs ASSOCIATION
The National Referral Hospital (NRH) has expressed its sincere gratitude to the Solomon Islands Recognised Seasonal Employers Association (SIRSEA) Hastings NZ for its generous donation of 24 wheelchairs on 13 October 2026, aimed at improving patient care and supporting mobility services at the hospital.
Receiving the donation from the Association, Dr. Titus Nasi, Medical Superintendent, National Referral Hospital, acknowledged and thanked the SIRSEA for the donation of the wheelchairs. Dr Nasi said the donations will contribute to the hospital’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services and ensure that patients with mobility challenges receive the assistance they need while accessing medical care.
“The 24 wheelchairs will help support patients who have difficulty walking or moving independently, making it easier for them to access hospital services and move safely within the hospital. Such support plays an important role in improving patient comfort, dignity, and accessibility within the hospital.”, said Dr. Nasi.
He said NRH acknowledges the generosity and community spirit demonstrated by the Solomon Islands RSEs Association through this donation. The contribution reflects the importance of partnership between healthcare institutions, community organisations, and other stakeholders in strengthening the delivery of healthcare services in the Solomon Islands.
The hospital welcomes continued collaboration and support from organisations and partners committed to improving the health and well-being of the people of the Solomon Islands.
Solomon Islands RSEs Association Vice President Bruno Lee Joel, speaking on behalf of the association, said the association was honoured to support the National Referral Hospital through the donation.
Joel said the donation of 24 wheelchairs marked the association’s first-ever contribution since it was established in 2025.
He explained that the association comprises seasonal workers employed by three major companies in New Zealand: Teamwork HB Ltd, Gourmet Blue Berries, and Turners and Growers Global Ltd.
Joel said the association recognised the importance of giving back to the Solomon Islands and believed that supporting the National Referral Hospital was a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of people back home.
