Contact the Police Maritime

The Police Maritime is a 24/7 operational Department of the RSIPF and one of its core mandates is to carry out search and rescue as well as patrol the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Solomon Islands.

Call Police toll-free line 999 or 677 +23666 to inform of any tragic incident at sea. Individuals can call Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) toll-free line 977 or 677 +21609 and liaise with Police Maritime.

Individuals are advised to stay ashore if unsure about weather conditions as safety at sea begins with you. Always take the necessary relevant precautionary measures required to ensure safety and always let your family members or friends know where you’re going and your expected time of arrival.

Never overload your marine vessel and always ensure extra fuel is stored on-board for your journey. Regularly check all weather updates and should your skipper not be in a condition to navigate, then avoid going with him or letting him control the boat.

Ensure you have available on-board life jackets, food, water, paddle, first aid kit, anchor, rope and mirror for emergency signals. Also have a bucket to bail out water, torch flares as well as the Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB).
