Minister for the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) Hon. Duddley Kopu is currently on tour to his constituency of Temotu Pele.
Minister Kopu and his delegation left Honiara yesterday (Thursday 23rd June, 2022).
While in his constituency, Kopu will be conducting awareness meetings with communities, community leaders and chiefs to gather their constructive opinions and views on national and constituency matters, including the likely deferment of the forthcoming National General Election for Solomon Islands by one year due to the Pacific Games next year-2023, the need to register eligible voters who turned 18 since 2018 and the need to prioritize rehabilitation of the damaged businesses in Honiara caused by the November looting last year.
Also, while there, Minister Kopu will officiate at the ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday 6th July, 2022 to officially launch the construction work on the Lomlom Coastal Ring-Road in the Reef Islands which is one of the national government’s major road infrastructure projects to be rolled out this year. The contract was awarded to AJ Enterprise Ltd in the last quarter of last year-2021.
The road project is co-funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and Temotu Pele Constituency under its Constituency Development Fund (CDF), a programme administered by the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD).
Temotu Pele constituents will also have the opportunity to meet and constructively dialogue with their Member of Parliament (MP) on other national and constituency matters of interest.
Hon. Minister Kopu and his delegation is expected to return to Honiara after the ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday 6th July, 2022.
