Mendana Avenue Roadworks: Dust Suppression, Traffic Merging, and Safety Precautions
Dust suppression measures are ongoing, as the tearing of the road base has resulted in uneven surfaces and increased dust generation amidst ongoing road construction activities along Mendana Avenue from the Hot Bread Roundabout to the Honiara City Council (HCC).
A water truck has been actively spraying the area over recent weeks to ensure clear visibility and suppress heavy dust during construction activities.
Road users are urged to drive with caution and strictly follow the directional signage along this stretch and on-site traffic controllers to ensure safety.
Expect traffic merging and partial section closures to allow contractors space for cross-drainage, stormwater pit installation, curb stone placement, and asphalt sealing.
Designated walkways and crossing points are being provided at selected locations. Pedestrians are strictly reminded to use only these designated points to ensure personal safety and minimize traffic disruptions.
Work is expected to continue until the end of July 2026, subject to weather conditions.
Again, a kind reminder to plan your travel ahead to avoid delays.
