MCT congratulates Mr. Bunyan Sivoro on his re-appointment as Permanent Secretary
Honiara, Solomon Islands – August 25, 2026: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism sincerely congratulates Mr. Bunyan Sivoro, on his re-appointment as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Formalizing his re-appointment, Mr. Sivoro officially took his oath of office before the Acting Governor General, His Excellency the Chief Justice, Sir Albert Palmer, during a swearing-in ceremony held at Government House this morning.
Mr. Sivoro returns to lead the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, having first been appointed Permanent Secretary in June 2022.
Hailed from Vella La Vella in the Western province, Mr Sivoro brings over 21 years of experience in the Ministry, including 13 years as Director of Tourism and 8 years as Deputy Director.
He holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management from James Cook University, Australia, and a Master of Business and Management from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
The staff of the Ministry congratulated Mr. Sivoro and reaffirmed their support for his leadership as they look forward to continuing to work with him to advance policies, programs and priorities of the ministry and the government.
In acknowledging his re-appointment, Mr. Sivoro expressed his appreciation to the government for the confidence placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Solomon Islands and carrying out the mandate of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
He also acknowledged and thanked the staff of the Ministry, describing them as the engine behind the Ministry’s achievements over the past four years.
He called on all staff to continue providing their support, commitment and dedication as the Ministry moves forward with its programmes and priorities.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism looks forward to working closely with Mr. Sivoro as he continues to provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight in advancing the Ministry’s important work in tourism, culture and heritage development.
Mr. Sivoro joins two other Permanent Secretaries who were also sworn-in during the ceremony; Mr David Teika Dennis, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance and Treasury and Mr. Trevor Unusu Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Service.
