
Manaaki Vocational Short Term Training Scholarship for All Sector – Counselling Course

The New Zealand Government, through the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships Programme, is offering an exciting opportunity for Solomon Islands professionals who work in mental health to study in New Zealand under a Vocational Short Term Training Scholarship (STTS).
This opportunity aims to strengthen skills and knowledge for professionals working in a field related to mental health. It will make you better equipped to provide effective guidance and support and contribute to improved mental health, well-being and resilience within your organisations and communities.
What subjects can I study?
A range of courses are available under VSTTS for study in New Zealand or online. VSTTS courses can range from 1 week to 12 months and must be with a certified training provider at Certificate Levels 1 – 4 or Diploma Level 5. Applicants are encouraged to research suitable courses available in New Zealand and identify this in your application. Your chosen training programme must align with the human resource development needs of your country.
Examples of courses that applicants may wish to apply for include:
- NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) with strand in Mental Health and Addiction Support, Level 4
- NZ Certificate in Suicide Prevention, Level 4
- NZ Certificate in De-escalation Skills and Techniques, Level 4
- NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation – Social Work, Level 4
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must have current or prior experience as a mental health or counselling professional, and/or; work in a frontline role where you deal with mental health challenges on a day to day basis.
