LMCP Road Works Update: Heritage Park Roundabout Reopens Tomorrow
The newly resurfaced section of road at Heritage Park Roundabout will reopen to traffic tomorrow morning, Friday, 3 July 2026. This marks the restoration of normal vehicle movement through this crucial intersection in the heart of Honiara.
This completion is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure, improve driving conditions, and increase safety for all road users. In light of this, we advise motorists that prolonged parking along the seaside stretch from Townground Roundabout to the Art Gallery/Breakwater is discouraged to help alleviate traffic congestion. Drivers are also reminded to exercise caution when travelling along Mendana Avenue Road and to adhere to all traffic signs.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and Land and Maritime Connectivity Project (LMCP) team sincerely appreciate the patience and cooperation of road users, nearby businesses, and the general public throughout the construction period.
Currently, construction work is focused on the section from Hot Bread Kitchen to the Honiara City Council Roundabout.
We are steadily progressing and anticipate completing this phase by early August.
